Our cozy backcountry yurt is located deep in the North Cascades at 6,000 feet surrounded by rugged peaks. On the first day we fly our guests and their gear to the yurt. The next three or four days is spent touring some of the finest backcountry terrain around. On the last day most of our guests find it difficult to leave and return to reality. Escape to the Barron yurt and see what brings groups back year after year.

There is a noted absence of backcountry huts or lodges in the Pacific Northwest. With our abundant snowfall and often times difficult access, an extended ski trip into the backcountry makes perfect sense. The trick is doing it in comfort.

The Barron Yurt is located just north of Hart's Pass and provides some incredible touring with all the creature comforts of a backcountry hut. The views of the North Cascades from this area are much different from those around Washington Pass and afford a unique perspective on many of the peaks in North Cascades National Park.

Super Cozy, Comfortable and Warm

Tamarack Peak looms directly over the yurt and can be skied on almost all aspects after 30-minute skin from the front door. On the other side of the Valley, Buffalo Pass ridge offers lines from 800-1,500 feet - also a 30-minute skin from the front door.

The yurt is 30 feet in diameter and is set up to sleep 10 (8 guests and 2 guides). There is a wood stove and propane stove for heat, a propane cook stove, well-stocked kitchen, propane lights and both single and queen size bunks. There is an indoor bathroom and shower. Super cozy, comfortable and warm- all you need after a day in the mountains. We serve up fully catered meals, so all you need to do is bring your beverages of choice and kick back at night after a good day's touring!

The yurt is outfitted with beds and foam mattresses with linens, a propane stove, propane lights, and a wood stove. Guests must bring a down or synthetic sleeping bag rated to approximately 20 degrees F. Please stick to the gear list to ensure that your group adheres to our strict size and weight limits for helicopter flights.

A quick note about alcohol…Just like you, we like a cold beer after a day of powder skiing! Please note that all beer should be in CANS. Wine and alcohol may be in boxes or glass/plastic bottles. All alcohol not consumed stays at the yurt.
