Remote, Yet close and worth the effort to get here

There are several ways to get to the Methow Valley, by vehicle being the most common. With winter driving conditions, travel time to Mazama can vary, but it is almost always an enjoyable drive especially as the snow starts to deepen the closer you get to our heli-base.

Getting Here

The Freestone Inn and our heli base are located near Mazama, Washington, 15 miles northwest of Winthrop, on State Route 20. Remember, SR-20 is closed from the west over Washington Pass from mid-November to mid-April, so winter access is from the South and East. Driving times are approximately 5 hours from Seattle, 3.5 hours from Spokane, 2.5 hours from Wenatchee and 8 hours from Portland.
